How to Take Reference Photos for Vehicle Graphics and Decals?
You may find some vehicle decals fantastic and want to own the same one. But you don’t have the graphic or don’t know how to describe it to your graphic supplier. Today ACME will show you how to take reference photos for vehicle graphics. We can re-create and print the decals according to your pictures or design a new one based on your requirements.
Tools:
- A camera or a smartphone. Photos with higher resolution will contribute to better final graphic products. So in order to fabricate a satisfied decal, we may require you to take multiple pictures from different views.
- A measuring tape
Take Photos for Vehicle Graphics – Tip 1 Angle
Avoid angled shots, line up directly with the vehicle and take pictures.
If the decals are on the side, take pictures on a side view. If the decals are on the hood, take from a top view. Always remember to keep your camera or phone parallel with the decals.
Tip 2 Distance
Both panorama and detailed pictures are helpful for us to fabricate the decals. When taking overview photos for vehicle graphics, we suggest you take from at least 15ft away. If there are some special designs or texture effects on the graphics, please take detailed pictures too.
Tip 3 Dimension
Dimension is very important for a vehicle graphic. There are many ways you could send us the size of the vinyl decal.
Attach a tape measure to the vehicle while you take the photos.
Draw a measurement on the photo with a photo-editing program.
Or tell us the vehicle model, we will find a way to get the dimension and confirm with you.
